ACAT

Aged Care Assessment Team - This is a team of health professionals who will assess your care needs and assist you to access the appropriate services. You must have an ACAT Assessment to receive either high or low care.

ACCREDITATION

Aged Care facilities must be accredited under the Accreditation Standards for Residential Aged Care in order to receive subsidies from the Australian government. There are 44 standards to be met and these cover areas such as resident clinical care, resident lifestyle and risk management.

BONDS

An accomodation bond or accomodation charge may be required and this is assessed on an individual resident's assets and these fall within the guidelines of the Department of Health & Ageing. There are optional methods of payment available.

CACP

Community Aged Care Package - Provides a planned and managed program of community care which assists you to remain living in your own home. e.g assistance with meals, medication, light cleaning etc..

DT

Diversional Therapist - Provide recreational and leisure activities for residents in aged care to encourage them to take part in activities and assist and promote general well being.

EXTRA SERVICES

Higher fees are charged for the supply of extra services such as hairdressing, newspapers, magazines and enhanced dining experience.

HIGH CARE

Provides a higher level of care for residents who require continuous ongoing nursing care as well as assistance with personal care.

ILU

Independent Living Units - Provides community living with independence while having access to emergency assistance if required.

LOW CARE

Provides care for those residents that require lower levels of assistance with daily tasks and personal care and do not have complex care needs.
